Air-Conditioning Systems

Residential Split System Airconditioners

A split system air conditioner is one of the most efficient, convenient, and popular solutions for home and office cooling. As the name suggests, a split system is split into two main components: an outdoor unit and an indoor unit. This separation allows it to perform both efficiently and quietly, making it an ideal choice for a wide range of spaces.

Depending on the location for the installation, the space requiring heating/cooling and the number of rooms that need to be managed, split systems offer a range of indoor unit configurations, including:

  • Highwall
  • Ducted
  • Floor & Ceiling Consoles, and;
  • Bulkhead options.

Additionally, if you need to manage multiple rooms but don’t want or have the need to do the whole house, you may want to consider a multi-head option, where multiple indoor units are connected to the one outdoor unit.

Alternatively, you may wish to consider a Room Airconditioner (RAC, or “window rattler”) – Whilst not that common any more, they still serve a purpose in smaller areas and can be used to replace previous RAC installations.

Residential Evaporative Airconditioners

Evaporative air conditioning offers a unique, refreshing way to cool your home or business, especially suited for hot, dry climates. Using the natural process of evaporation, this system provides a cool, comfortable indoor environment while being significantly more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly than traditional air conditioning. This style of airconditioning unit, otherwise known as the “Swampy”, is a multi-room unit, delivering cooling only via a ducted tube system to vents located in the ceiling.

More often than not, these systems are configured to cool an entire house and depending on the size of the house that needs to be cooled, more than one “Swampy” may be required to get the job done. The team at O’Connells can help you design a solution that meets your requirements, regardless of how many units are required to get the job done or they can assist in selecting a bigger sized unit to undertake the work of two units.

Evaporative air conditioning is ideal for those seeking an economical, environmentally-friendly cooling solution. It combines fresh air circulation with low energy usage, resulting in a natural cooling method that feels as refreshing as it is sustainable. With no harmful chemicals and a focus on energy conservation, evaporative cooling offers comfort with peace of mind, making it perfect for both homes in hot, dry areas.

Commercial Airconditioning

For businesses of any size, maintaining a comfortable environment is essential. Commercial air conditioning systems are specifically designed to deliver powerful, efficient climate control across large spaces, from offices and retail stores to warehouses and hotels. With a range of advanced features and energy-saving options, these systems ensure optimal comfort for employees and customers while keeping operational costs low.

Whilst both split system airconditioners and evaporative coolers can be used in commercial settings, more often than not the airconditioning requirements of these premises exceed the capabilities of these units and larger options are required. These are often ducted systems (as can be seen by the steel duct leading in from the airconditioning unit in the corresponding image) which are designed to heat and cool a number of rooms in a commercial premises.

Given they are often much larger units and many of them may be required, there is a lot to consider here – From extra power requirements, varying capacities and potentially the need for two or more units, many different factors need to be taken into consideration. Luckily commercial heating and cooling is one of O’Connells specialities so get in touch today so the team can help you design a solution that meets your needs.
